Cabin overlooks Moab and appeals to folks wanting to experience peace & quiet.

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to our Moab cabin.

CAUTION: During the months of March and early April as well as November, whether at the cabin can be fickle and it is possible to receive snow. We strongly recommend that if planning on coming during these times you have a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle.

Caution # 2 Because the cabin is set away on private land, our cleaning service requires one day between bookings. Same day departures of previous guests and arrival of new guests are too difficult to schedule so when looking at the calendar please recognize the dates available and pick a date one day following the previous booking. If you are inflexible with your scheduling, let us know and I can ask for exceptions of the cleaning lady.

We love the great outdoors and adventure. By fact that you are here, we know you do as well. We tried camping with tents and sleeping bags when we were younger, and while, we respect those who enjoy camping we discovered that the creature comforts or lack thereof made the difference in our partnership with Nature. At our last family camp out and after burning a hole in our new eight man tent and burning my hand with our new gas lantern scrambling inside to escape a Summer rain I looked at my wife and asked if she was having fun. Reviewing the muddy mess of our camp kitchen and inevitable cleanup she thought a moment and said “No…are you?”

That was in the early 1990s and we subsequently set a plan to interact with Nature on more comfortable terms. Creature comforts and isolated from the hubbub of crowds, our cabin offers an escape from the city and the stress of everyday life. Unique to the arid geology of Moab the cabin has: Three bedrooms. Comfortable soft down comforters,

• Two full bathrooms. Linens included.

• Hot showers, running water after a day of adventure

• Modern kitchen with all the kitchen gadgets

Fire pit for roasting smors (subject to fire restrictions by the forest service)

• Fifty-two inch flat screen with the family oriented inventory of movies

• Good cell phone service

• Wrap around deck with Spectacular views

• Low light pollution. Night skies within the darkest triangle in the continental US

• Hiking/biking trails on property and nearby

• Rustic Charm

• Isolated from crowds, a half-mile private lane into a cabin.

• Warm days, cool nights

• Parking for large vehicles and trailers. (A meadow)

Located off the Sand flats road on the Wilson Mesa at 7300 feet elevation the cabin is a perfect base camp for visiting the area’s attractions. Near the trail heads of Porcupine trail, Kokopeli trail, slick rock, (world famous as the best mountain biking and hiking spot in the USA) and Finns N Things. The cabin is close to Moab’s Famous off roading and mountain biking locations, which include Arches national park, Canyon lands, Warner Lake, LaSal mountain range, and Castle Valley. Available for short (3 days 3 nights) or long (1-2 week) vacation stays. 1700 sq. feet of modern convenience but still a cabin. Restriction Notice. All off road vehicles including motorcycles need to be trailered into property and trailer-ed out of the property. No off road use within the parameters of the half mile lane into the cabin.

Breathtaking views of the LaSal Mountains from one deck, the Moab rim from another and Arches national park from yet a third.13 miles from Moab and the Colorado River. No light or sound pollution; you will experience peace and quiet. Starting at sunup and lasting all day, humming birds vie for nectar from feeders on the porch. Sometimes so many they perch on your shoulder waiting their turn. Please watch the video above and check photos from cabin adventures. Read some of the testimonials/references from previous guests. Click on our blog link below to view more photos and excerpts from other guests. Call or email today to check availability as the cabin generally reserves 4-6 weeks in advance. We welcome you to the area and Susie and I are genuinely pleased that you are considering the cabin for your get away. We promise you won’t be disappointed, on the contrary, you will have a vacation to remember for life.

I stayed here with a group of friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. The house was spacious, clean and cozy, and the location was excellent -- great access to hiking and mountain biking, and far enough from the Moab craziness without being too remote. Peaceful, quiet and the views were spectacular.

This was my second visit to this unique place, so I won’t repeat my previous review. It won’t be my last visit. We love the location - superb views, fabulous night skies and absolute peace and tranquility. We were visited twice at sunset by deer grazing right next to the cabin and a couple of times a few cows grazed by. In November it was too cool to spend much time sitting on the wrap around deck, so looking forward to visiting again in the warmer months.

Loved this cabin so much. Communication with owner and property manager was excellent. We had everything we needed there and the location and views just can't be beat. Perfect weekend in the mountains. We have a Subaru Forester and it had no trouble getting to the cabin; however, I imagine if there were heavy rain or snow, you'd likely need a higher clearance/stronger vehicle, so keep that in mind when booking.

The goal when planning this trip was to depart from our usual summer beach trip and get the kids out for a new experience they will never forget. 100% accomplished and neither will we. Every twist, every turn is a new sight. The roads to the cabin are as described by other and utterly breathtaking. The cabin was very comfortable. Coming mid July felt like a risk but we were perfectly compfortable without the air conditioning. We were fortunate to have some rain showers in the evenings. Castle Valley was very near the cabin and there are many areas to explore without making the trip all the way down the roads. We are so glad we made the decision to stay high up at the cabin. The landscape changes make for a grand experience. It’s like being on the corner of three planets at once. I will never forget this trip!

We stayed four nights at this remote cabin, and could have easily stayed many more. The setting is breathtaking. The dirt track to the cabin takes about 40 minutes, but is a beautiful ride. Allowing for that drive, it's a great base to explore the nearby national parks and do Moab-like activities (mountain biking, zip lining etc.), but is also a great place to stay put. We spent happy evenings watching the thunderstorms rolling across the distant horizon and admiring the resulting rainbows, and contented mornings sipping our coffee while watching the throngs of hummingbirds jostle for prime position at the feeders. There is also a quite ridiculous view over Castle Valley a few minutes away. The cabin itself was clean, well equipped and well maintained. John was extremely helpful with advice and suggestions. Yes, sadly there is no dishwasher, but somehow we survived! We hope to return.

John’s remote cabin is simply the perfect fit for those looking to enjoy the Moab experience. The cabin has everything you need and it’s remote location means you have the privacy you seek and yet are close to the incredible national parks within a reasonable driving distance. Even when temps are over 100 in Moab, at 7500 feet elevation we were never hot or uncomfortable at the cabin. Sleeping with the windows open and the cool breezes was very pleasant. The owner’s love and passion for the area is evident and John’s suggestions for unique places to visit were extremely helpful and you would be smart to take advantage of his local knowledge. We loved our time at the Moab Cabin and, if you love hiking and biking in some of the nation’s most picturesque landscapes, this property will serve you well. Added bonus, the property sits on the edge of a beautiful canyon and we spent many hours hiking and rock scrambling in our own private canyon. Could not recommend this more highly!

We had the best time. The property and house are beautiful and the drive through the park to the house is as amazing as anything you will see in the National Parks. There is plenty of great hiking and mountain biking nearby. We will be coming back.

Perfect home base for exploring Moab. John was quick to respond if we had any questions or concerns. We would definitely stay here again.

A mountain biking buddy and I finally decided to make the trip from the Southeast to see what all the hype about slickrock was. In looking for a place that was to be a central base for 10 days, we wanted something that was not in the middle of Moab and offered a decent altitude since we came from a whopping 250 feet above sea level. At roughly 7,300 feet, John's cabin fit all of the requirements, and I booked it. On arrival, I was a bit surprised to find that it took 40-45 minutes to get from town to the cabin. However, after the first day, this perceived concern turned into one of the cabin's greatest benefits for us. You are reasonably isolated from all of the noise, lights, and people that are always present in Moab. Situated literally a stone's throw from Cougar Canyon, and a short hike or bike ride from Castle Valley, there is phenomenal scenery to be had without ever cranking a vehicle. If you are an astronomy buff, bring your telescope...though I have travelled a bit, I have never been anywhere with virtually no light view the Milky Way, you need only walk outside and look up. With the canyon and the Moab escarpment visible from the front portion of the deck, and the La Sal mountains visible from the side, it almost makes you not want to leave. The cabin is well outfitted with all the creature comforts, and while it is still to be considered a "cabin", it is more like a home. But we didn't come to sit on the porch! The best way to the cabin takes you directly through the Slickrock Recreation Area which is the main thing we came to Moab for, and it deserves it's status as one of the world's best biking and off roading areas. In addition to three days of mountain biking, we spent one day climbing in the La Sals, two days on dirt bikes, and two days hiking/climbing in both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks....all within very short driving distance. Owner John Lundberg knows the area like a local and in every instance was fast to respond and invaluable in recommending sights and trails. Aside from adding a hot tub to soak the day's pain away, there is not one thing I would change.....only one recommendation. It is easy to schedule all of your time doing the incredible amount of things available in the area, but I would encourage you to have some unplanned time to simply slow down, sit, look, and listen. The botanical and biological diversity of this high desert is amazing....but you'll miss it if you're moving too fast!

Perfect base for Moab MTB, short drive to shuttle the whole enchilada.

The cabin is perfect. For being in the high country it is completely comfortable. Simple kitchen is everything you need to enjoy a great meal, home cooked with friends. The 2 bathrooms provide space for people to have easy access when needed. The place is well kept, everything is nice and clean and you can tell that the owners care about the experience of their guests. Then there is the property. The views are amazing. The sunsets and stars at night will leave you breathless. Even the drive up from town is cool. You truly feel as if you have stepped into the prehistoric on your way to the cabin. I have tons of pics that I can't wait to get through. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to have comfort and nature rolled into an awesome property that is in the middle of all Moab has to offer. Will absolutely be back!

This cabin was great. It was a haul to get to it but worth it! It was very comfortable and the views were beautiful. We really enjoyed staying there and we were able to cook our meals too. We enjoyed watching the sunsets & stars.

This cabin was everything my group was looking for. Quiet and secluded with direct access to iconic Jeep trails like Hell's Revenge and Fins as well as the La Sal loop. Rustic but not lacking in amenities. Even though he was out of the country dealing with a time zone difference, the owner was very quick to answer questions and emails and had a ton of helpful advice.
