My husband and I brought our family (10 month daughter and 5 year old dog) with us to Carbondale for 3 days. We stayed at this property and could not have been happier with the accommodations. The home is absolutely beautiful and well kept!!! We loved waking up in the morning to Stefan feeding the horse and ducks. The town is less than a 5 minute drive away and then you can be in Aspen and Marble in about 30 minutes. Absolute gem! We will definitely be back in the future.

My husband and I took a mini trip for our anniversary and fell in love with this property, Wahsabi, and Evie too! We enjoyed breakfast and drinks by the river each day and can't wait to go back again soon. Thanks Alexandra and Stefan for an amazing little vacation!

Another wonderful stay at the best VRBO we’ve ever stayed at, hands down! Thanks to Alexandra & Stefan for such hospitality. The Maroon Bells were fantastic & the Rio Grande bike ride was great. Dinners by the river, just steps away from the apartment were relaxing & wonderful. We’ll be back soon!

This property is a gem, located on the banks of a fast flowing river. just a mile from Carbondale. It’s very welll equipped with everything you could possibly need, and it’s one of the cleanest we’ve ever rented on VRBO. We loved having coffee or cocktails down by the river and the sound of the river when we awoke in the morning or putting us to sleep at night. The bike path s a few hundred yards away, and the trail goes from Glenwood Springs to Aspen. An added treat was Wasabi, the horse, who is extremely friendly and inquisitive. He wanders freely around the property, occasionally begs for a treat, or sleeps amongst the ducks on the lawn surrounding the pond. Alexandra and Stefan are wonderful hosts, full of information about the surrounding area.....hikes, rides, sight-seeing, day trips, etc.. We will definitely stay again when anywhere near Carbondale.

I always hesitate to write a stellar review for this wonderful place as I don't want too many other visitors competing for reservations! This is our fifth year staying with Stefan and Alexandra (and Wahsabi and Evie....sadly Spanky passed away recently). They have become dear friends and we look forward to our visit every year. We have never stayed at a property so well equipped and where the owners are so accommodating to all requests. We love the sounds of the Roaring Fork at nights, having Wahsabi trot up to the back door begging for carrots and the myriad duck families wandering around. This truly is a 'Bit of Heaven'.

If you’re like us, you’re going to read all these positive reviews and think it’s too good to be true. But you should believe them. If what you want is a peaceful, private place to stay, with friendly hosts and a central location for hiking and biking, this is the place. The apartment is a duplex with the owners, Stefan and Alexandra, living on the other side. They go out of their way to provide privacy, but also are accessible if needed. Upon arrival, Alexandra gave us a full tour of the apartment. They’re simply lovely hosts. The location is very quiet (no road noise) and private directly off of the Rio Grande Trail which goes the full 42 miles between Glenwood Springs and Aspen. We selected this home because of the location and were able to bike the path easily, store our bikes safely on the property, and also get to Carbondale by bike, foot, or car easily. There is also a bus system along the valley for those who want to hop on, with or without bikes. There is ample hiking nearby as well, whether you choose to stay near Carbondale or take a day trip to the Aspen area. The apartment is surrounded by bucolic green space along the river, with outdoor seating to enjoy a meal or just relax by the river. The laid back resident horse, Wahsabi, two old dogs, ducks and croaking frogs added to the ambiance. The apartment itself was very comfortable for the two of us. Super comfy king sized bed with selection of pillows to satisfy all preferences. We slept with screened window and doors open, listening to the river and waterfall outside. The apartment was very clean and appointed with high class touches (eg, ample fluffy bath towels, china and glassware, etc.). Internet, while somewhat slow, was sufficient for our use. We didn’t cook much but if you want to do so, the kitchen is fully equipped and there also is a gas grill outside available for use. We highly recommend this listing. Thank you, Stefan and Alexandra for a perfect stay.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of May, and it was the perfect spot for the beginning of our vacation! The house was very clean and comfortable, and has the most well stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a vacation rental. (Don't bother bringing your own coffee and tea!) The location is excellent when it comes to making day trips or going out to eat, then great to come back to in the evening and sit out by the river with a glass of wine. Alexandra and Stefan are great people who's company we enjoyed immensely, but they also gave us plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend this beautiful oasis for anyone who wants to be close to attractions, but in a nice quiet and beautiful location!

The “Island” was such a wonderful find! Alexandra and Stephan are so kind and easily accessible, if needed, but everything was so nice, we did not need to reach out to them for anything. The property is so peaceful and secluded and we loved sleeping at night with the door and window open with the fresh air and sound of the river right in the back yard. Bonus is Wahsabi, their beautiful horse. He came walking right up to us on arrival and I just loved having him around. The accommodations were wonderful and everything we needed was provided, even the bathrobes, which came in handy for the hot tub use on chilly evenings. We hope this place is available every time we visit the area.

Who doesn't want to wake up to the sound of the river while watching a beautiful horse graze on some grass for breakfast? This place is amazing and I would not hesitate to go back. Bed is comfortable. Kitchen is fully stocked (even more so than my own kitchen!). Hosts are super friendly. Right on the bike path and close to town- PERFECT. My daughter followed the ducks around the property. Something for everyone. We will never forget it. Thank you for opening your home to us.

We have lost count as to how many times we have stayed at the Island - was this the fifth or sixth or ? Anyway, we keep coming back because it is so great and to see Alexandra, Stefan, Wasabi, etc. Enjoy it when we are not there but don't take our times! David and Dorcas

A beautiful location and great setup. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a dinner, make a drink or pretty much anything else and Alexandra will help out with anything you might need. The hot tub just outside the bedroom door is newish and nice. Will definitely be staying here again when in the area.

I would recommend this place to anybody, so pretty, not to mention how nice these guys are! The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in softest sheets and the best pillows! This place has everything you need from a waffle maker to a-1 steak sauce. The location is perfect the walking trail right up from the cabin is absolutely breathtaking not that you need to walk any further then your back porch because you are right on the river you can hear it roaring while in the hot tub!! Look forward to trying to get this place during the summer for some fishing! It's beautiful, stay here!!

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we had a lovely time. The apartment was very clean and cozy- exactly what we were looking for! It seemed to have everything we could have possibly needed, including comfy slippers and robes! You can tell that Alexandra and Stefan take pride in the rental and their property. They were very friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. We even got to visit with and pet their friendly horse, Whasabi! On our last night there, we got to relax in the hot tub under the stars which was so peaceful and really just a perfect ending to our trip. The apartment is in such an ideal location near the river, hot springs, mountains, etc. you really can't go wrong staying here. We would love to return during the summer or fall to see the ponds, greenery and explore the nearby paths/hiking trails. Hope to see you again, Alexandra and Stefan! Thank you for opening your wonderful home to us :)
