More information

The space

Writers, artists, recreators and sight-seers, welcome to a cozy, little abode that's perfect for singles, couples, or a couple with a child!

Hollyhock is professionally cleaned with green products before each use.

There is a Queen-sized sofa bed with memory foam mattress on the main floor and a full-sized bed in the loft sleeper (for adventurous folks who can "crawl-climb" tiny house steps and who don't mind confined spaces only).

The cottage kitchenette is conveniently set up to make a hot cup of coffee, for light meal preparation and for storing munchies for your stay. It contains a dorm fridge, induction burner, crockpot, toaster, microwave, cutlery, plates and flatware.

Lounge in the living area with your feet in front of the electric fireplace and watch Roku TV (with Netflix and Hulu provided gratis). Free wifi is available to guests as well.

On the grounds outside the cottage, identify plants, observe frequent visitors from the animal realm or just recline on a park bench in the dragon garden to take in the mountain views.

Need an additional place on site for other family members or friends to stay while you're loving life at Hollyhock?

The Nest, a 309 square foot cottage located a mere 30 feet down the steps from you, might be the place. The Nest sleeps up to 3 people. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath "Library Loft" and "The Keys to Old Colorado City" in neighboring Old Colorado City are also excellent option, and sleeps up to 6 each. Book instantly on Airbnb or contact the owner for details.

Guest access

You'll have this studio-style bungalow all to yourself, with your own private off-street parking (a rarity in Manitou Springs) a few feet from the entry, and downtown Manitou Springs within a minute's walk.

Stroll the grounds and gardens of The White Yarrow Inn & Farmette, feed the hens and the lion head bunny, gather some eggs (in season) from the nesting box for breakfast, or observe the bees down in the grotto.

Come and go as you please via the stone steps by the faerie garden or meander through the charming neighborhoods lining the foothills of Manitou Springs on your way to the mineral springs, Sunwater Spa, Miramont Castle (high tea!), the Manitou Incline, the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak's summit, or one of several readily accessible mountain trails with breath-taking views of the Pike's Peak region.

Free, private parking for one guest car on site. Easy in and out to area attractions such as Pike's Peak, Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon Park, Cheyenne Canyon, Seven Falls, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Broadmoor and so much more.

Interaction with guests

We give our guests maximum privacy, but welcome interactions and enjoy being a resource regarding the town of Manitou Springs, the attractions here, and the unique natural features of the area.

Someone will be on site or on call for the duration of your stay. Text the owners with any questions, concerns or needs.

Other things to note

Guests should keep in mind that Hollyhock is designed as a boutique experience. This means that staying at Hollyhock is about enjoying little, high quality spaces and using resources in modest amounts.

If you are a larger or taller person, staying at Hollyhock may present some challenges for you, including stepping through the four-foot entry door, getting in and out of the sleeper loft, and using the small shower.

It is also worth noting that Hollyhock was designed with water and energy conservation in mind. With a 19--gallon water heater, hot water lasts 7-8 minutes in Hollyhock before the system needs to re-heat. Thus, we recommend short showers, especially if there are others with you during your stay. In sum, Hollyhock is for those who enjoy the distinctive, who prefer centrality to suburban size, and want to live large by living small.

Jillian is a Master Herbalist and owner of TLC, a gathering company, which produces events that bring people into deeper connection with themselves and each other through food, hand-crafting and ritual. She also owns In Joy Baking Co., which produces organic, gluten-free bread mixes, chocolates and other foods. Her Peruvian dark chocolate truffles are complementary for every Sunwater Spa guest who receives a massage, facial or other treatment.

Chris is a yoga instructor, homesteader and owner of The White Yarrow, LLC (the vacation rental company that owns and operates Hollyhock and The Nest, among other properties). Chris is your primary host and is usually just a text or call away should you need anything at all during your stay.

The White Yarrow Inn & Farmette, which is what we call our home (the main house), Hollyhock (where you are staying), The Nest (cottage behind the main house in the grotto) and the surrounding lands, are in the third year of a multi-year plan to become "a model of joyful and prosperous, locally-focused living for other people and communities to follow."

Soil development, water management and productive planting on the 1/3-acre grounds of the White Yarrow began in 2015, as did creating a permaculture design for the land, setting up a composting operation, and establishing a home for chickens and bees. This Winter, we are launching a few select gatherings and classes to deepen in self awareness and community connection.

We welcome guests' questions and involvement about our journey toward a joyful and sustainable way of living. Thank you for coming to Hollyhock at The White Yarrow!

We loved staying here! The hobbit house is so cute! It’s in a great location being right around the corner from all the fun shops and restaurants in downtown Manitou Springs. We also loved the chickens, bunny, and sweet kitty Mimi. We would absolutely stay again!

Chris is a great host! The hobbit house is quaint, quiet and clean! You won’t need for anything as this little gem is packed with all kinds of goodies. We loved being able to walk to area attractions and dining. If you want to be right in mix of Main Street Manitou but feel like your miles away from town when you come in at night, this is the place to be! We loved it!

Unique place. Perfectly located. Very clean. Love the: * hobbit door * loft bed * Chickens & Bunny (even the cat who would welcome us home at night)

It was a wonderful stay and one of the most private areas in downtown that we found. The tiny home is well laid out and while the stairway to the loft is hobbit sized the fold out bed is comfortable downstairs. In addition to the chickens there is a bonus bunny and a friendly cat each morning. I look forward to staying here again or trying one of their other tiny homes in the area.

Unique, clean and a great location. Definitely enhanced our Manitou experience. We’ll be back!

Great location and stylish place to stay

This was just an adorable little hobbit home!! It was completely amazing. A wonderful experience. We got to hang out with the chickens and relax by the fireplace! It was cozy and private, and close to downtown! It was perfect. I will definitely be staying here again!!

Christopher is an extremely helpful host. Being very accurate with information and helping us with out trip

We had a wonderful time. The location is great to go to many places. The house is adorable and we loved the one block walk to downtown! We will be back again!

Had a great time! Loved the proximity to downtown Manitou and the kids loved the chickens!

Great place. Very cute. Very fun.

This location is beyond perfect! We were steps away from the restaurants and shops in Manitou. The house itself was clean and updated with a lot of fun touches! As coffee snobs, we liked the fresh ground coffee and french press. Will definitely book again if we’re back in the area.

LOVED staying in the Hobbit House. Much bigger than you think it will be, so many special little touches, and an excellent location

We loved this little house! The hobbit door was really cool and my daughter enjoyed checking for eggs in the chicken coop several times per day. Chris let's you keep and cook the eggs too! The loft was really neat as well. As for the location, you are just a few steps from all the neat shops in Manitou! Location could not be more perfect. And Chris is super nice, and available next door if you need him. Can't wait to go back!!

Cute and cozy as described. Perfectly located in the heart of downtown.

This BNB is the whole package: location, hospitality, cleanliness, responsiveness, atmosphere, and again, location! My family and I spent 5 nights in Hollyhock and loved every moment of it visiting Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Red Rock Canyon, and Pike's Peak. All within walking or very short drive of this AirBNB. Hollyhock itself could be a geat place for a small family (wife, 7 yr old daughter, and myself) or a getaway for 2. All the amenities one could need. It truly felt like home. Christopher isa fantastic host and should be the example for what an AirBNB Host should be. Do yourself a favor and book this now!

Our family of three had such a great time here! Our 10 yr old (who had just read the hobbit) absolutely loved his stay and was sad to leave. He made friends with the chickens and rabbit (also a friendly cat and some deer), enjoyed gathering eggs, and we all enjoyed the proximity to downtown manitou springs. We rode horses at the garden of the gods, explored the caves at cave of the winds, saw the manitou cliff dwellings, and drove to the summit of pikes peak, and all of that was just minutes from our “Hobbit House”. The descriptions are incredibly accurate as well as the pictures. The loft and shower are very small, but while the experience you get staying here isn’t like a huge house or hotel suite, we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Chris was so great in responding to questions we had about the house and surroundings. Can’t recommend enough if you’re looking for a unique once in a lifetime experience!

Everything we needed in a wonderful area. We loved our time here!

Manitou is one of our favorite places, anywhere - and this great location was made even better by choosing The Hollyhoch as our home base. Our stay was comfortable - the location was absolutely perfect (super convenient to food, entertainment) and our hosts were helpful, responsive, and personable. As I told Chris as we were leaving town - we will definitely be back, and DEFINITELY be staying at The Hollyhock. I strongly recommend you consider doing the same!

We loved our stay. The cottage was in the best location for exploring Manitou Springs. Christopher was an amazing host he made sure we had everything we needed. I loved the chickens and rabbit that live next to the house.

Great place! Highly recommend!
